NFL Free Agency: Brandon Carr Draws San Francisco 49ers Interest, Per Adam Schefter

Brandon Carr and Cortland Finnegan are going to be the top two cornerbacks available on the now open market in NFL free agency, so it’s no surprise to see teams already vying for their attention. Carr in particular already has a visit to Dallas scheduled to hang with the Cowboys, but Adam Schefter is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have also shown an interest and hope he can visit.

Carr has four full seasons as a starter and is only 25 years old. The Chiefs failed to franchise him and chose Dwayne Bowe instead, so they set him free knowing he would earn top corner money. Those franchises are likely to pay him north of $7 million in order to sign him and it would be a surprise at this point if the Cowboys don’t lock him up with a Jerry Jones sized contract.

That said, Carlos Rogers is also a free agent and the 49ers are likely to lose him. Replacing him with Carr would be a definite upgrade.
