Alex Marvez has the word that the St. Louis Rams have reached agreement with arguably the top cornerback on the free agency market with Cortland Finnegan. Details are being worked out, but it’s clear that both sides are close.
Finnegan and Brandon Carr of the Chiefs are the two top candidates to help a secondary through free agency and it’s not even close after those two. A team lucky enough to add someone of that caliber is going to turn around their fortunes in the secondary very quickly. Just ask the Houston Texans how glad they were to have Jonathan Joseph join them last season.
Finnegan was let go by the Tennessee Titans and goes to a Rams team with a lot of needs at several positions. The recent trade to the Washington Redskins of the No. 2 overall selection gives the team a lot of draft assets to work with. If they can draft a Morris Claiborne or Dre Kirkpatrick, the secondary could turn into a strength very quickly.
