NFL Mock Draft 2012: David DeCastro Bolsters Interior Of Chiefs Offensive Line

The latest mock is out for the 2012 NFL Draft from Drafttek and the Kansas City Chiefs bolster their interior offensive line this time around with the selection of David DeCastro, the star guard out of Stanford. The Chiefs have Ryan Lilja, Rodney Hudson and Jon Asamoah from left to right in the interior at this point, but it’s believed that Lilja would become a back-up if the Chiefs took him. The Drafttek report reads:

If he goes to the Chiefs here at #11, DeCastro would be among the highest drafted Offensive Guards ever. But he’ll solidify the Chiefs OL for Jamaal Charles et. al.. Should the Chiefs sign a vet RT, this becomes a no-brainer pick.

If the Chiefs can also sign Eric Winston, former right tackle of the Houston Texans, in the free agency period, then the Chiefs line will go from average to one of the best in the NFL. DeCastro is widely regarded as the best guard prospect of a very deep class. Adding Winston would also give the Chiefs an above average tackle. Replacing the two weakest spots with some of the best in the NFL would make a major difference for the Chiefs offense.
