NFL Free Agency Update: Jarrett Johnson Signs With San Diego Chargers

The San Diego Chargers already signed Bobby Meachem in free agency to replace Vincent Jackson, but it’s the signing of former Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Jarrett Johnson that becomes the team’s best and most important signing thus far of the offseason. Johnson was among the best of just a handful of rush linebackers, and his presence will likely cause major problems for AFC West opponents for the next few years.

Adam Caplan is reporting that the Chargers reached a four year deal for Johnson, who had 56 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season. The 30-year-old veteran is a solid addition to a linebacking corps that will also get Jonas Mouton back from injury. The second round pick never played last season, so the Chargers get a major boost there as well.

There were no terms announced on Johnson’s contract.
