Eric Winston Headed To Kansas City To Visit Chiefs On Thursday

Alex Marvez of Fox Sports has the word that Eric Winston is on his way to Kansas City, and outside of Peyton Manning, there’s no greater hope for a free agent than the former right tackle of the Houston Texans. The Chiefs’ biggest need on the field at this point is at right tackle, and it was surprise to almost everyone that the Texans even made Winston an option this offseason.

Marvez writes, “After meeting with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, a source told FOXSports.com that Eric Winston is heading to Kansas City for a Thursday meeting with the Chiefs. St. Louis and Baltimore also have shown strong interest, the source said. Winston is the most attractive right tackle on the free-agent market after his surprising release Monday by Houston. Winston, 28, started every game the past five seasons for one of the NFL’s most prolific offenses.”

Winston would be the piece that would mean the most for the Chiefs offseason if he’s able to sign. The Chiefs already have Peyton Hillis in place in a move to bolster the backfield. The tandem of Jamaal Charles and Hillis would be that much more effective with Winston in place.
