The Kansas City Chiefs made sure their receiving corps is intact already this offseason with the use of the franchise tag on Dwayne Bowe. Along with Steve Breaston and the first round draft pick from 2011 in Jon Baldwin, the Chiefs have a strong trio for Matt Cassel or whoever the quarterback happens to be in KC in 2012. But there’s apparently room for more since the Chiefs are rumored to have “significant” interest in wideout Jerrico Cotchery.
Cotchery played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season after seven seasons with the New York Jets. It’s assumed that Cotchery would also become a special teams contributor in addition to helping as a receiver. Last year, Cotchery had 16 catches for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is the one with the report and he also says the Jets have interest in bringing Cotchery back. There’s no word of an official visit scheduled.
