The San Diego Chargers need to replace a major loss at wide receiver this offseason with Vincent Jackson’s signing in Tampa Bay. The team struck quickly to sign a deal with former Saints receiver Bobby Meachem, but apparently they’re not done because they’re in on the highly sought Eddie Royal. Today, Royal is in San Diego for a physical per Adam Schefter’s report.
Norv Turner has a great offensive mind, so he likely has specific ideas for where a guy like Royal can fit. His career has certainly endured a roller coaster like variance with the Denver Broncos, going from one of the most promising receivers in football to an injury-prone veteran. Any deal is likely to be incentive laden for Royal.
That said, many teams are in on Royal and he’s already visited the Redskins among others. The Skins still reportedly want him, so Royal might be able to create a minor bidding war for his services.
