After visiting with a few teams including the Kansas City Chiefs, Mike Tolbert has found his new home three time zones away from his former team in the San Diego Chargers. Joe Person has the announcement today that Tolbert has signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on a team that now has a glut of possibilities at running back.
With DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart already, the Panthers now have another solid end zone option in Tolbert. However, Tolbert has a lot of value in special teams as well and played a vital role there for the Chargers over the last couple of seasons. Certainly that versatility plays a major role in landing with the Panthers.
The Chiefs signed Peyton Hillis, but still brought in Tolbert for a visit. Perhaps they were thinking the same thing, since Hillis was brought in on a one-year deal.
