NFL Mock Draft 2012: Dontari Poe Heads To Chiefs At Rotoworld's Latest

The latest mock draft over at Rotoworld has Evan Silva switching sides for the Kansas City Chiefs, moving from the popular offensive line pick to the defensive line and choosing Memphis defensive tackle Dontari Poe at No. 11 for the Chiefs in his latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft.

Silva writes, “Opposing C-USA coaches feared Poe only enough to vote him second-team all conference as a junior, but human beings who weigh 346 pounds and move like this one don’t last long on NFL draft boards. Poe is an absolute mammoth of a man with incredible brute strength (Combine-best 44 bench press reps), essentially a bigger, faster version of B.J. Raji with a cleaner off-field history. The interior D-Line is a need spot for Kansas City, as Kelly Gregg is expected to retire.”

If Gregg is gone, that only leaves Jerrell Powe and Anthony Toribio along the line on the roster. The Chiefs are likely going to sign a veteran there as well, but d-lineman seem best suited to play in rotation and few tackles can play all three downs with equal ability. Amon Gordon can help in that way and other ends can also slide inside at times, but having a body like Poe would lock down the position.
