At a press conference on Tuesday, the Denver Broncos and John Elway officially introduced their newest acquisition, superstar quarterback Peyton Manning. The most hotly-pursued player on the market will be wearing orange in 2012 as he heads to one of the biggest rivals of the Kansas City Chiefs.
When Peyton Manning officially became a free agent, the Chiefs publicly stated they were interested, but that appeared to be the end of the discussion. Manning was linked with the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers as well as the Broncos, who ended up signing Manning to a five-year, $96 million contract that includes $30 million in guaranteed money.
At the press conference, Peyton thanked the other teams he met with and stressed that he's looking forward to getting to work as soon as possible with his new team. Hopes are now extremely high in Denver. Hopefully the move will pan out.
