The Denver Broncos have updated and upgraded their tight end corps in a hurry today with the free agent announcements of both Joel Dreesen and now Jacob Tamme coming from Adam Schefter among others today. With Peyton Manning at the helm, the tight end position has always been important and Tamme knows that from experience, but with two solid tight end receiving options on the field for the Broncos, they are going to be tough to handle for the Chiefs' linebackers.
Tamme only had 19 catches for 177 yards last season, but in 2010 with Manning at the helm, Tamme had 67 receptions for 631 yards and 4 touchdowns. Last year, Joel Dreesen had 28 catches for 353 yards and 6 touchdowns for the Houston Texans. Dreesen is going to be the better end zone target, but both players give the team some options after losing Daniel Fells and needing an upgrade overall.
The Broncos were expected to address the position in the upcoming draft, but now this frees them up to look elsewhere. Manning got one of his men and another that he will enjoy throwing to today.
