Carolina Panthers Sign Former Chiefs Kicker Justin Medlock

The Kansas City Chiefs once thought they had their kicker of the future when the team drafted Justin Medlock in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of UCLA. That dream was short lived and the Chiefs once again struck for the future of the position with the choice of Ryan Succop just a few seasons later. Medlock has stuck around in various professional football circles and he's now trying to join the NFL again with the announcement of a deal with the Carolina Panthers.

From the AP report, "Medlock, a former fifth-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007, is expected to compete with veteran Olindo Mare for a roster spot this year. Mare struggled last season with the Panthers, missing two key field goals at the end of games. The Panthers signed Kunalic late in the season, although they stuck with Mare as their kicker in games."
