The Kansas City Chiefs have been linked to several offensive tackle prospects this offseason -- both before and after the team signed Eric Winston to start at right tackle for the next four seasons. But David Mims is a developmental tackle who has the ideal size and strength already in house, and Mims says he's ready to help the Chiefs in any way he can.
"It's always been my goal since I got here to get on the field, so that was one step closer," Mims told Herb Teope. "I want to take more steps this offseason and going into training camp so I'll get better."
Mims also noted his versatility and said he was ready to help in any capacity on any side.
"I'll play whatever side they put me on," he said. "I played left all through college and I'm comfortable there, but I can play right, too. I played some right last year on the scout team. It's wherever they want to put me. ... My goal this year is to get on the field and contribute any way I can whether it's in a starting role or as a sub," Mims said. "I just want to help the team win because I know I can help."
