NFL Draft 2012: Nose Tackle, Guard Remain Biggest Positions Of Need, Per Sports Illustrated

As the 2012 NFL Draft draws closer and closer, more coverage is going to be released and team needs are an essential part of any football site's list of columns once the draft is within reach. Chris Burke is handling the AFC team needs duties for Sports Illustrated, and he has the three primary areas of need for the Chiefs well-covered. He focuses on nose tackle, guard and quarterback overall, and while a case can be made for inside linebacker, it's not a bad write-up.

About the main position of need, Burke writes, "Kelly Gregg, in addition to being unsigned at the moment, is considering retirement, and Jerrell Powe far from engrained himself in the starting lineup last season. Kansas City needs a big body in the middle."

This is the reason why several have the Chiefs connected with players like Dontari Poe and Michael Brockers in the first round. The other positions listed by Burke also show the reasoning behind mocks that place Ryan Tannehill or David DeCastro with the Chiefs in the first round.

While Romeo Crennel says the Chiefs can go any direction, expect them to address one of these three positions -- or inside linebacker with Luke Kuechly -- in the first round of the NFL Draft.
