The NFL has made sure that every team will play at least one prime-time game this season. In order to do that, NFL Network's "Thursday Night Football" schedule has been expanded from eight weeks last season to 13 weeks in 2012, running from Week 2 to Week 15.
The Chiefs will travel to San Diego to face the division-rival Chargers in Week 9. The Chargers went 8-8 last season, finishing in a three-way tie for the AFC West title, but they missed the playoffs. The Chiefs didn't play on a Thursday last season.
