For the last few months, Drafttek has provided weekly mocks leading up to the 2012 NFL Draft, and for the most part they've stayed with David DeCastro, the Stanford guard, at the No. 11 position. As the draft nears within just four days, the Chiefs are still being linked with DeCastro once again in their latest mock.
The Drafttek report reads, "The Chiefs' choices appear to be between David DeCastro and Luke Kuechly. Either would be fine choices. The best bet is that the Chiefs take David DeCastro. The draft is deeper at guard, but DeCastro is the better value. He will lock down an offensive line spot for ten plus years, more than likely at a multiple Pro Bowl level. A DeCastro pick would be similar to the Eric Berry choice. The positional value is not the highest, but the player value is."
It's hard to fault a team for taking a safe choice such as this despite possible impact talents at position like pass rusher or cornerback. DeCastro is likely to become an instant fan favorite along the line and someone who, like Eric Winston, makes the entire line better. The addition of those two bodies would make a huge difference for the Chiefs offense in 2012.
