NFL Mock Draft 2012: Dont'a Hightower Headed To Chiefs In Pro Football Talk's Latest

As if the Kansas City Chiefs needed any more names to choose from for the No. 11 overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. While most mocks have it pared down to a handful of names, Pro Football Talk wants to throw in another with their latest: Alabama linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

It’s Pro Football Talk’s fourth mock draft of the season, and this one gets the Chiefs a prospect that some had slipping to the second round. Of course, such prognostications are worthless in the end, and if the Chiefs love Hightower and believe he makes for a good value there, then they will take him.

Evan Silva writes, “Hightower is a thumping "Ted" linebacker with versatility.” He would replace Jovan Belcher in the middle of the defense and provide the Chiefs with an infusion of youth and ability in the middle next to Derrick Johnson, who was the team’s MVP last season. Tamba Hali and Justin Houston would round out the defense.

The other names often thrown around for the Chiefs include guard David DeCastro, linebacker Luke Kuechly and defensive tackles Dontari Poe and Michael Brockers. Safety Mark Barron has also been a recent addition. Everything will be revealed tonight in the first round.
