The Kansas City Chiefs might or might not bring back Kelly Gregg next season. Either way, expect the team to address the defensive interior in the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft. The Chiefs can now pick for value rather than need, according to head coach Romeo Crennel, and given the amount of talent along the defensive line in the first round, it would not surprise to see the Chiefs take a big presence at defensive tackle in the process.
That's the thought behind the Chiefs first round choice in ESPN's latest mock draft. Bill Williamson writes, "The Chiefs would be thrilled to see Poe on the board at 11. He is the best player available who fits their biggest need. Poe has a chance to be a dynamic player on a defense full of young talent."
Dontari Poe is often linked to the Chiefs at that choice, but there's also a chance the Memphis product goes earlier, perhaps to the Carolina Panthers two spots before the Chiefs. If so, Michael Brockers is another name who could fill the role.
