NFL Draft 2012: Mike Mayock's Rankings Has Dontari Poe Falling, Fletcher Cox Climbing

The latest positional rankings are out from NFL.com’s Mike Mayock, one of the NFL Draft’s most trusted analysts, and the defensive tackle position is in a major state of flux. Dontari Poe is falling at the wrong time, while Fletcher Cox is catching fire simultaneously. How it will play out in the end is anyone’s guess.

The Kansas City Chiefs are definitely among the teams monitoring such players given the need along the defensive interior. The team is often connected to Poe, the tackle from Memphis, but just as quickly as Poe’s stock inflated after his strong showing at the NFL Combine, he’s now falling back down — at least according to the buzz of scouts and draft analysts.

Then again, why would anyone believe anything they hear this time of year? Everyone is giving out massive amounts of misinformation to change the perceptions of the players they really want. Perhaps the amount of bad news you hear about a player in the weeks before the draft should tell you how high he might be taken.

Here’s Mayock’s top five defensive tackles:
1. Fletcher Cox, Mississippi State
2. Jerel Worthy, Michigan State
3. Michael Brockers, LSU
4. Dontari Poe, Memphis
5t. Kendall Reyes, Connecticut
5t. Devon Still, Penn State
