NFL Mock Draft 2012: David DeCastro Remains Popular Pick For Chiefs At No. 11

Another mock of the 2012 NFL Draft is out at SB Nation and David DeCastro is, once again, the pick du jour for the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 11. It’s becoming a regular occurrence in mocks around the Interwebs and for good reason: the Chiefs are in a perfect position to leap on what could be the best overall value in the draft.

DeCastro is largely considered to be one of the best overall players available in the draft. Some believe he’s the best interior-line prospect in years, but no team can afford to take a guard or center among the top picks in the draft. As the first team outside of the top ten, the Chiefs can take DeCastro knowing there is the right value at that spot.

Ryan Van Bibber writes, “The Chiefs are probably going to lose Casey Wiegmann, 38, to retirement, leaving a void in the middle of their offensive line. DeCastro flopped in his pro day try out snapping the ball, so Rodney Hudson may be the one snapping the ball this year. Snap struggles aside, DeCastro has elite level talent. The Chiefs line may be the envy of the league this year.”

DeCastro helped Stanford protect Andrew Luck and dominate the college football landscape last season, and the Chiefs would do well to add him to Eric Winston.
