Yeremiah Bell Swayed By Jason Taylor, Rest Of Jets Defense

The Kansas City Chiefs were among the interested, but former Miami Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell chose to go with another suitor: the New York Jets. It's unknown at this point whether the interest was mutual and whether Bell turned down an official contract offer from Scott Pioli. However, if so, it's now known what helped Bell make up his mind on his eventual destination: the advice from other players like former Dolphins end Jason Taylor

"He told me it's a great organization to come to and that everyone welcomes you with open arms," Bell said a week after signing with the Jets. "He enjoyed his time here. There wasn't anything negative."

Certainly Bell knows well the Jets defense after watching it from the AFC East rivals year after year. Rex Ryan runs a strong defensive unit each season and most players love to be a part of it.

"I'm joining a defense that is one of the best," said Bell. "I was able to see that with the Dolphins. I know how effective the defense has been here for the Jets since Rex has been here. He wants to put you in a position to do your best and that's what I am looking forward to doing."

The Chiefs have also expressed interest in O.J. Atogwe, and they'll likely kick the tires on several other veterans as they are released closer to training camp.
