Wallace Gilberry might have gotten the hint that his time as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs was up when first round draft pick Dontari Poe got his #92 jersey assigned to him this week. That prompted this Tweet:
#chiefsnation y'all will be missed so maybe if ive ever in ur city again show me some love #outsidelookingin

Yeah... he's probably gone. Gilberry became a free agent following the 2011 season and was not resigned by the team. Then again, there's always a chance the Chiefs could bring him back in, jersey number or no jersey number, at least according to Scott Pioli:
"I don't know what Wallace's plans are right now," Pioli said. "Romeo and I talked about this the other day, and we're not shutting the door on him. We have to issue the player numbers, and what we weren't going to do is sit here and wait...it was a number that the player requested and if Wallace Gilberry ends up back here as a player and he wants his number, he can talk to Dontari about that. We've already watched a number of negotiations go on."
Gilberry had 2.5 sacks and 14 tackles last season.
