Hard to believe it was almost a decade ago that Vonnie Holliday was a major signing for the Kansas City Chiefs defense. It's even more strange to consider that Holliday is still playing at an NFL level as a defensive lineman for the Arizona Cardinals given that he was released by the Chiefs in 2004 due to injury concerns. The Cardinals announced the move today that they have re-signed the veteran for yet another season after Holliday played in all 16 games last season.
Holliday led the 2003 Chiefs with 5.5 sacks in his first year, and he was a celebrated free agent signing since he chose KC over a few other interested suitors. However, injuries kept him out in 2004 and he was released in the following offseason. Since then, the 36-year-old has played several more seasons for the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins and now Arizona.
Holliday had 16 tackles last season.
