NFL Supplemental Draft 2012: Larry Lumpkin Ready To Work Out For Chiefs, 18 Other Teams

Larry Lumpkin is among the eight players hoping to be selected sometime during the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft. It appears that the linebacker from Carson-Newman might just be promising enough to earn a late draft pick or perhaps an invite to go to training camp with a team. That's because there are reportedly 19 teams interested in taking a closer look at Lumpkin during his Pro Day scheduled for Wednesday.

The linebacker could have a home with the Kansas City Chiefs, since they are among the teams interested. Aaron Wilson has the full list of teams:

Among the NFL teams have made inquiries about Lumpkin and will likely attend his workout, according to his agent, Chris Martin of OTG Sports: the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Houston Texans.

The Chiefs already have Dexter Heyman of Louisville in camp to compete with Brandon Siler and Jovan Belcher for playing time in the middle next to Derrick Johnson. The Chiefs could also use a battle of the best to figure out who will provide linebacker depth as well as special teams help. Lumpkin could be another good body to have around in case of injury or for competition.
