It's the sort of news that every team hopes they never hear in the several weeks off that players get between the end of OTAs and the beginning of training camp. Now the Denver Broncos are having to hope their best pass rusher next to Von Miller is able to play and that the drama doesn't get any uglier than it already has. Word is out that Elvis Dumervil was arrested on Saturday night in Miami, Florida on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.
The Denver Broncos released a very short statement that simply acknowledges awareness without giving away any other information:
"Our organization is aware of the matter and is continuing to gather the facts. This is a very serious allegation, and we will thoroughly review the details while the legal process runs its course."
Dumervil had 9.5 sacks last season in a return from injury and teamed with Von Miller to help the Broncos win the AFC West in John Fox's first year with the team as head coach.
