Peyton Hillis Discusses Durability Concerns, Opportunity With Chiefs

In a recent interview with Fox Sports Radio, Kansas City Chiefs running back Peyton Hillis gave his perspective on what he hope to bring to the team this year as well as his take on perceived durability issues throughout his career. Of course, this came after he gave a nice plug for a protein drink he recently became a face for. Here's a few of the highlights.

When asked about his take on signing with the Chiefs:

To tell you the truth, I'm really looking forward to it. I report to camp in two days and I'm looking forward to getting the season started. I'm with a bunch of great guys and coaches and a lot of talent, so I think that this year could look really up for us if we do everything just right.

When asked which version of Peyton Hillis was going to show up this year for KC:

I don't know. [Laughs] I don't know how many Peyton Hillis's there are, but this Peyton Hillis will try to do his best no matter what happens. I'm going to do my best out there no matter what and hopefully it's a great thing for Kansas City and not a bad one.

When asked about perceived durability concerns:

I'm definitely in good shape. I've never thought durability was really a problem. I've just had some twinges here and there that kept me out of games. All you can do is hope and pray that you're healthy and you'll do good things.

When discussing the roller-coaster nature of his career:

I've been through a lot of ups and a lot of downs. There's been no steady course with me, but that shouldn't be an excuse. I love to compete. I love to play this game. I've always felt that if I got an opportunity that I always did well with that. That's the way I'm going to look at it this time. I'm going to go out there and do the best I can and hopefully I get a lot of opportunities.
