Kansas City Chiefs Agree To Contract With Dontari Poe

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly come to terms with a contract with first-round pick Dontari Poe, ensuring the massive DT will not miss any of training camp.

While first-round holdouts used to be a right of passage in the NFL, the salary scale instituted by the new CBA has dramatically changed that dynamic, as teams and players have a very narrow window of contract parameters to even discuss.

Disagreements about a fifth-year option reportedly held up the contract from being completed, but Poe should be ready for the start of training camp on Friday, July 27. He'll be expected to contribute immediately on the Chiefs defensive line in his rookie season.

He was seen as one of the biggest risk/reward prospects in the draft this year, and his development will be one of the most closely watched storylines of the Chiefs preseason.
