Chiefs Training Camp: Taylor Gentry Released After Failing Physical

Rookie fullback Taylor Gentry was let go by the Chiefs after failing to pass his physical, the team announced on Tuesday.

Romeo Crennel wouldn't go into specifics of the injury. From the Chiefs official team site:

"He wasn't able to get on the field up to this point because of a physical and meeting with doctors and things. He couldn't pass the physical, so he will no longer be on the team because of medical reasons."

Gentry fully participated in the Chiefs offseason program. He was a three-year starter at NC State after making the team as a walk-on. His exit from the Chiefs leaves 2011 seventh-round pick Shane Bannon as the only fullback in camp. Crennel said the team hadn't yet decided whether or not to bring in more fullbacks, but has options.

In other injury news, linebacker Brandon Siler was able to participate in Tuesday's walk-thru after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday. Siler missed all of 2011 with an Achilles injury in the preseason. From the Chiefs site:

"Siler was out there this morning at that surprised me," Crennel said. "They were resting him yesterday and he was on crutches yesterday in meetings, but today he was walking around like a spring chicken. I think that he will probably get some reps tonight."
