The Kansas City Chiefs struggled mightily in a 44-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Friday night, with the defense in particular looking vulnerable. It appears a key cog on the Kansas City defense, cornerback Brandon Flowers, will continue his extended absence this preseason. Via Arrowhead Pride:
"I'd say it's doubtful," Crennel said when asked if he's expecting Flowers back next week, "because we're going to play on Thursday, and he hasn't practiced. If you don't practice, it's hard to play."
Last week at this time I was only mildly concerned about Flowers being ready for the opener. Now? We may have ourselves a serious problem, folks. Tuesday will be four weeks since Flowers was initially hurt. The Chiefs have been honest in saying they don't know exactly what's going on. There is no known timetable. I just don't know what to say.
The preseason has been ugly for Crennel and the Chiefs, with the exhibition season mercifully wrapping up on Thursday when Kansas City takes on the Packers in Green Bay.
