Julio Jones Headed Toward Elite NFL Receiver Territory

It didn't take long for Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones to show why the team made a controversial move up the draft board to get him back in 2011. One half into his second season in the NFL, Jones had already caught six balls for 108 yards and two touchdowns to the dismay of Kansas City fans.

From Jeff Schultz's blog at the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Every receiver can be stopped by some defense or cornerback at some point. But opponents are going to struggle to contain Jones this season, particularly in an offense that has so many options and with a coordinator (Dirk Koetter) who is far less predictable in play-calling than Mike Mularkey.

Back in 2011, the Falcons gave up five draft picks to the Cleveland Browns to take Jones No. 6 overall. After a rookie season in which Jones was 41 yards away from becoming a 1,000-yard receiver, the deal looked good by the end of the year. And in what would turn into a 40-24 loss for the Chiefs on Sunday, any doubt left in Atlanta is quickly fading away.
