Chiefs Vs. Bills: Kansas City, Buffalo Try To Rebound In Week 2

With just 16 games in the season, digging a hole for yourself early is a great way for even some of the NFL's most talented teams to miss the playoffs. Following a 40-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Chiefs got their season off on the wrong foot, but have the opportunity for a rebound against the Bills in Week 2.

The Bills spent much of their offseason trying to address the fact that their defense finished among the league's 10 worst units in 2011, and began that transformation by giving Mario Williams a six-year free agent contract worth $96 million with $50 million guaranteed. But this new-look defense did very little in a 48-28 loss to the New York Jets, in which an offense that couldn't score a touchdown in preseason seemingly scored at will.

Offensively, the Bills didn't look much better as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions, while both running back Fred Jackson and wide receiver David Nelson suffered injuries. The Chiefs, on the other hand, managed to stay relatively healthy in their defeat.

In the NFL, no week is ever penciled in as a win and nothing ever can be counted on to go as expected, but the Chiefs will likely enter this game with a solid opportunity to take out the struggling Bills and get back on track with their first win.
