Jamaal Charles Says He Was Comfortable Back On Field For Chiefs

With 87 yards on just 16 carries, including a 46-yard run in the second quarter to set up a game-tying touchdown, Jamaal Charles had a pretty successful return to the Chiefs lineup after a torn ACL in Week 1 of the 2011 season sent him to injured reserve. In his Monday press conference, Charles told reporters that he felt positive about his return to the football field.

"I felt good," Charles said. "I felt comfortable with myself, comfortable in my ability. I think I did well."

Charles also noted in his press conference that he felt the Chiefs lost focus some in the second half and didn't play like they were capable of.

"I think it's just that we came out and weren't ourselves," Charles said of the second half. "After that, we just have to focus on the next game."

As things continued to go wrong for Kansas City and the Falcons lead began to swell, Charles believes that the team may have been trying too hard to right the ship. "In that situation when you're down, anybody wants to make a play and press, but we just can't lose focus," he said. "We need to try to do better next time."

Charles and the Chiefs will have a next time when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills at noon CT on Sunday.
