The San Diego Chargers had a surprise name pop up on the official Friday injury report: kicker Nate Kaeding. According to head coach Norv Turner, Kaeding was sore and was fficially listed as having a limited day in practice. At the time of the injury report, they were unsure if there was actually a problem, or if it was just soreness. Then, the team signed kicker Nick Novak late Saturday and Kaeding was officially ruled out, according to the Washington Post.
To make room for Novak, the Chargers released offenisve lineman Reggie Wells. It looks like Kaeding is officially dealing with a groin injury sustained at Friday's practice, and his absence could be a big one given his perfect mark on field goals this season.
The other big name on the injury report is Jared Gaither. He's missed significant time this season with a back injury, and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game. According to Gaither (and the piece on the official website), there's a 50-50 chance he'll play on Sunday. Gaither himself thinks that he'll be able to play, and participated in practice in full on Friday for the first time.
