Madden '13 is finally out and NFL and video game fans everywhere are likely spending much of the weekend watching and playing the opening games of the 2012 NFL season. The latest Madden '13 simulations are out from ESPN and the good news is that the game itself seems to believe that the Chiefs can upset the Atlanta Falcons this weekend as the teams open up against one another.
Jon Robinson writes, "Plenty of pundits are picking the Chiefs as their surprise choice to win the AFC West, and Kansas City doesn't disappoint in Week 1, scoring 14 fourth-quarter points to beat the Falcons 24-21. The Falcons led 21-10 heading into the final quarter, but the Chiefs finally woke up thanks to a 59-yard punt return for a touchdown by Javier Arenas, followed by a 22-yard score by Jamaal Charles to seal the deal. Michael Turner ran for 145 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown, in the loss."
It's not a surprise that the Chiefs can win over the Falcons on paper, but the reality is that the Chiefs defense right now is a mess. Tamba Hali is out with suspension. The team could also be missing numerous other defensive starters including Kendrick Lewis, Brandon Flowers, Derrick Johnson, Jovan Belcher and Anthony Toribio. In addition, Allen Bailey is doubtful for the game.
Chiefs fans can only hope for such a late rally and strong start to the NFL season.
