This Week In MLB Trade Speculation: Zack Greinke And The Twins

It's the MLB offseason which means the only "news" we're going to get is some trade speculation here and there.

Enter Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

The Twins, as they found out playing the New York Yankees this season, need a bona fide ace. But a deal for Greinke could cost them top prospect Aaron Hicks, a Class A outfielder whom the Twins refused to give up when they tried to acquire ace Cliff Lee from Seattle in July.

Walters says a trade for Greinke would help the Twins greatly and, if they want to compete in the playoffs, a necessity.

Walters goes on to suggest that the Twins would need to include Twins left fielder Delmon Young and starters Kevin Slowey or Nick Blackburn.

I can't say that I know a lot about the prospect but trading Greinke inside the division wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If the Royals do decide to trade him, there will be more interested teams than just the Twins. There's no reason to keep him in the division.
