After a long week, we once again find ourselves at the end of the week and ready to catch up on the week that was in Kansas City Royals offseason news and notes. Among the things we didn't touch upon during the week-

We start off with Royals pitcher Felipe Paulino, who is taking part in the baseball series in Taiwan with a group of major league players against the Chinese Taipei national team. Paulino started the game on Thursday evening, going 4.0 innings and allowing just one run on three hits in a 6-2 major league team victory. He struck out two and walked one in the win. Michael Morse of the Washington Nationals hit a solo home run in the third inning to power the major leaguers.

Last week we also touched on the possibility that Royals broadcaster Ryan Lefebvre could possibly be headed to the Minnesota Twins to take over as the radio voice for the retired John Gordon. That position ended up going to Cory Provus who was working for the Milwaukee Brewers with Bob Uecker. Lefebvre will now be back with Kansas City for a 14th season.

Wednesday, Alex Gordon was named Royals' Player of the Year, and awarded the Les Milgrim Award. You can read more about Gordon's receiving the award here.

On the other hand, Bruce Chen was acknowledged as the Kansas City pitcher of the year. For this he won the Bruce Rice Award. Chen is a free agent this winter, but has made it known in the past how much he enjoys Kansas City and would very much like to work out a deal to remain with the team.

In front office news, the Royals have hired former Florida Marlins manager John Boles as a senior adviser to general manager Dayton Moore. Boles previously had worked for the Royals when he was director of player development from 1986-'89.

Turning the attention the minor leaguers, Johnathan Mayo spoke about the seven players from the Kansas City organization that went to Arizona to participate in the Arizona Fall League. You can view the video here.

At 7pm (CST) on Saturday evening, four of the players who are in Arizona for the Royals will be taking part in the AFL Rising Stars Game. Royals Review has a game thread started here. The game can be seen on MLB Network.
