The Kansas City Royals have had a solid start to April going 11-7 and sitting two games behind the Cleveland Indians. Just this week, they had a share of first place and Alex Gordon was among the hottest players in baseball. There are a lot of reasons to be excited.
But is it too early to be excited?
I was talking with a friend of mine about the Royals' hot start and, while it's fun when they're winning, I had to remind him of one thing: it's April.
It's awfully early to be thinking they'll play like this all year. Statistically, they shouldn't be playing this well and, over the course of 162 games, statistics matter.
That said, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. I would love to have a baseball team playing meaningful games in August or September.
Heck, I'd take meaningful games in June.
