What was once a promising start, including going 4-0 to start the season, has turned into a .500 campaign and a current five game losing streak for the Kansas City Royals. Thus tonight, the team hopes to snap their skid and salvage one of three against the surprising division leading Cleveland Indians.
Taking the mound this evening is Kyle Davies, the pitcher with the worst ERA on staff. Thus, it's easy to believe the Royals won't have much hope against the soaring Indians tonight. Yet despite Davies 6.23 mark, he's pitched well in two straight games including two runs in 6 innings against Cleveland on April 18.
The Royals have had their moments against the Tribe's pitching staff, but thus far, the Royals have been unable to keep the Indians from scoring runs. Jeff Francis blew up last night, and the night before was even worse for Luke Hochevar and company. Thus Davies should feel the pressure as he takes the mound tonight to step up and keep the Royals above .500.
