In another beautiful display of help and partnership, the University of Missouri joins other sports franchises like the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals in helping contribute money and awareness to the unfortunate victims of the tragic storm and tornado from May 22.
“One State. One Spirit. One Mizzou.” reads the t-shirt that the university is selling online (at mutigers.com), at the University Bookstore and the Tiger Team Store for $14.95 with all proceeds benefiting the United Way’s United for Joplin campaign. The Columbia campus is located over four hours away, yet the show of support reveals just how much the tragedy has touched everyone.
Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel is also getting in on the act via his Twitter account: “Texting JOPLIN to 864833 will trigger a $10 donation to the Heart of Missouri United Way.” CBS Sportswriter Jeff Goodman also heard that Mizzou’s new men’s basketball coach Frank Haith was going in person to survey the damage and see how to help as well. The displays of support are found all around the state of Missouri in this time of need.
