Chris Serritella 1B Southern Illinois University
Tyler Chism CF Gonzaga
Matthew Beaty C Desden HS (TN)
Adrian Morales 3B South Carolina
Kash Kalkowski 3B Nebraska
It's interesting that Serritella missed the entire 2011 season due to a broken bone in his wrist, however he was first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference as he batted .374 with 13 home runs for the Salukis. Kansas City must have thought highly of him to draft a player who missed this past season.
Kash Kalkowski of Nebraska has a similar story in that because of injuries, he had only played in two games at Nebraska before this season, in the field. He actually was a pitcher for the Huskers his freshman season, before missing 2010 because of shoulder surgery. This season he came back to bat .299 for Nebraska while collecting 5 home runs and 42 RBI. He will likely be a hard sign as he is just a sophomore, but the fact he is already 22 years old gives me some hope Kansas City might be able to sign him.
