Eric Hosmer Homers But Royals Still Lose To Tigers, 5-4

Hosmer's power is the only good news in a forgetful series for the Royals against the Detroit Tigers.

The good news is that Eric Hosmer continues to see the ball better as the year goes on. The bad news is, well, everything else on a day like today.

The Kansas City Royals lost the third game of four against the Detroit Tigers today, 5-4, in a divisional match-up of those at the top and bottom of the AL Central. Hosmer was the bright spot for the Royals, homering twice and going 3 for 4 on the day. Both came off of Tigers starter Rick Porcello.

The Royals were cruising to the win until the bottom of the eighth, when the Tigers scored three runs off of losing pitcher Blake Wood. Both Victor Martinez and former Royal Wilson Betemit hit RBI doubles in the inning to take over the lead and Dan Schlereth and Jose Valverde closed things out to garner the win and save respectively.

The Royals hope to even the series tomorrow at 1:05pm ET/12:05 CT with Danny Duffy taking the mound.
