The Kansas City Royals can only hope to play spoilers at this point in their season, but they'll have to sweep the Tigers to do so.
Detroit is currently three games above the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central with only three games to go. One Tigers victory or one White Sox loss in Cleveland gives Detroit back-to-back division titles. Detroit hasn't made back-to-back playoff berths since 1934-35.
For the first game of the series, the Royals will send out Bruce Chen (11-13, 5.13 ERA) to take on Rick Porcello (9-12, 4.68 ERA) of the Tigers. The Royals' offense should have a shot at a decent outing against Porcello, who has lost six straight games.
The game will be at Kaufmann Stadium at 7:10 p.m. CT. It can be seen on Fox Sports Kansas City.
