The Kansas City Royals made some moves to their 40-man roster on Friday. Some notable moves including claiming right-handed pitcher Guillermo Moscoso from the Colorado Rockies, and catcher Brett Hayes, who most recently was with the Miami Marlins.
Last season, Moscoso made three starts and appeared in 23 games for the Rockies, and had a 3-2 record with a 6.12 ERA in 50 innings of work. This will be Moscoso's four team in as many years.
Hayes was the Marlins backup catcher for the past four years in Miami, and appeared in 39 games last season while hitting .202 with six doubles. He is also known as a good defensive catcher, and has thrown out 19 of 74 base runners in his career.
The Royals also assigned catcher Manuel Pina to their Triple-A affiliate in Omaha, plus they designated left-handed pitcher Tommy Hottovy, right-handed pitcher Jeremy Jeffress and outfielder Jason Bourgeois for assignment.
