While the Kansas City Royals have been named as potential suitors -- or at the very least, "good fits" -- for available starting pitchers like A.J. Burnett and Roy Oswalt, Royals general manager Dayton Moore is making it clear that his team is not interested in breaking up or hamstringing his young staff and prospects.
"It just doesn’t fit. For me, we would be abandoning our plan with the young players. That’s not who we are. I think it’s important that we understand who we are, where we’re going and what we’re trying to do."
With Bruce Chen and new acquisition Jonathan Sanchez figuring to hold down the front end of the rotation in 2012 and hopefully serve as mentors for the younger arms, Moore and the Royals are hoping that their pitching staff will grow into a formidable squad.
