The Kansas City Royals defeated the Oakland Athletics 3-0 in a game called due to rain after the top of the eighth inning. The game was also delayed due to rain and started 45 minutes late.
Royals starting pitcher Danny Duff was making his first start of the year and he had a stellar outing by pitching six scoreless inning, allowed one hit, four walks and eight strikeouts.
The game was scoreless through three innings until Royals when Mike Moustakas hit an RBI double to score Billy Butler and then Humberto Quintero knocked in Jeff Francoeur to put the Royals up 2-0 for good.
Aaron Crow came in to relief Duff after his six innings to pitch a scoreless seventh inning with two strikeouts and earned the save since the game was called due to rain.
