The Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics have split the first two games of their series as the A's won the first game 1-0 and the Royals won the rain shortened second game 3-0. The final game is an early afternoon start and there is a 60 percent chance of rain throughout the scheduled game time.
The Royals starting pitcher Bruce Chen is making his second start of the season where he pitched six innings and received a no decision last week. Chen has been solid on the road as he has gone4-1 with a 1.86 ERA in his last seven road starts dating to last season. The only loss during that stretch came against the A's last season.
Right fielder Jeff Francoeur has started the season off hot and has a hit in every game this year with the exception of Monday's 1-0 loss against the A's. On the season Francouer is hitting .375, has two runs, two RBI's and a double.
