Kansas City Royals Vs. Oakland A's Score Update: Oakland Leads KC 3-2 In Fifth

The Kansas City Royals currently trail the Oakland A's 3-2 through the first four and a half innings in the rubber game of their three game set.

Dodgy fielding hurt the Royals in the second inning. Yoennis Cespedes singled in the second inning, but advanced to second on a throwing error by right fielder Jeff Francoeur. Cespedes then stole third base -- and promptly scored on the same play, scoring on a throwing error by catcher Brayan Pena.

The Royals would strike back, though, as Alex Gordon notched a two out, RBI single that scored Pena in the top of the third. The RBI single was Gordon's first hit of the 2012 season.

Kansas City would take the lead in the fourth inning, as Billy Butler hit a solo home run off of Brandon McCarthy.

Unfortunately for KC, the Royals would give the lead back immediately. Jonny Gomes hit a two-run homer off of Bruce Chen in the bottom half of the fourth, scoring Cespedes, and giving Oakland a 3-2 lead.

McCarthy got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the fifth as well. McCarthy got Butler to ground out with the bases loaded to end the fifth inning.
