Early on in the Kansas City Royals season the bullpen has been called upon often. Last night's contest versus the Cleveland Indians served as a typical example for the Royals. The Royals used six of their seven relievers versus the Indians in an 11-9 loss. Everett Teaford was the only reliever who didn't pitch Saturday, pitched four innings on Friday and could be a spot starter Wednesday night if Luke Hochevar isn't recovered from an injured left ankle.
Royals general manager Dayton Moore pulled the trigger on recalling right-handed reliever Louis Coleman from AAA Omaha late Saturday, as a result outfielder Jarrod Dyson was optioned down back to Omaha. Manager Ned Yost will have to figure out how to tweak his bullpen to not tire them out too quick, but hopefully the starting pitchers will start pitching later into games as well.
