The Royals were never able to find success at the plate as Tigers pitching stifled the Kansas City bats for the third straight night and Detroit won 4-3 on Wednesday night.
The Royals scored six runs in the three-game sweep. For their part, the Royals pitchers only allowed 10 runs over the three games. Jonathan Sanchez wasn't credited with a quality start, but he gave up just two earned runs over five innings. Sanchez left with a 3-2 lead, as the Royals scored two in the bottom of the third on a home run by Alcides Escobar and one in the fourth on a double by Humberto Quintero.
But Kelvin Herrera gave up the lead with a run in the top of the seventh and Jose Mijares gave up another in the inning and eventually was credited with the loss.
Billy Butler went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk. The Royals have now lost seven in a row and are 0-6 at home.
