After the opening game of a three-game set between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers was postponed due to rain on Monday, the two teams will meet for the first game of a now abbreviated two-game set in Detroit on Tuesday (the rainout game is tentatively rescheduled for Monday, September 24). This is the second time in three days that the Royals have been rained out as Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins also met the same fate.

The Royals had a rough opening month of the season, losing 12 straight games at one point. However, in the final games of the month, the team compiled a 3-1 record and will look to carry that effort into May.

The probable starters for Tuesday night are Luke Hochevar for the Royals and Rick Porcello for the Tigers. Hochevar is 2-1 in four games started this season and has a 4.98 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Porcello is 1-2 in four starts with a 6.45 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched.

The game will start at 7:05 pm (EST).
